Reducing Cost and Increasing Productivity
The value of adding automatic tailgates to off-highway hauling units are numerous. I will start by listing the advantages before going into detail for each describing how our tailgates reduce cost per ton and pay for themselves many times over:
Tailgates:
• Prevents spillage
• Improves weight distribution
• Permits full load of hauling unit
• Increases tire life
• Reduces haul road maintenance
Preventing Spillage
Preventing spillage adds multiple benefits to an operation: saving the cost associated with cleaning up the spillage, or looked at another way reloading material you already loaded once, and potential vehicle tire damage. Prevention is obviously the key. Many hauling operations require uphill grades with loaded hauling units. A Maxter automatic tailgate closes in the rear of the hauling unit body. By having the rear of the body closed off, load stays contained within the body, therefore reducing spillage onto the haul road. Reduction in spillage effects the entire operation from haul road maintenance, vehicle maintenance and repair cost, to lost production.
Improving Weight Distribution
Most off-road hauling units are designed to carry 1/3 of the load on the front axle, and 2/3 on the rear axle. With an open rear body, it is common for loader operators to place more of the load forward to try and reduce spillage. This leads to an abundance of problems, some of which do not show up immediately, but have a long term negative affect on productivity. With the load moved forward it causes the front axle to carry more load, and above it’s designed capacity. This uneven load distribution causes more wear on front tires, undue stress on hydraulics and frames components. With more of the load forward of the dump hinge point, the hydraulic system pressures are increased by lifting more of the load to empty the body at the dump site. The Maxter tailgate enables the hauler to carry the weight distributed properly, saving from premature maintenance costs. In addition, the closed-off body becomes a better target for the loader. The loader operator takes less time to position loading tool and placement of load to achieve proper load distribution.
Permitting Full Load of Hauling Unit
By closing the rear of the body, the Maxter tailgate allows the load to make the most of the entire length of the body. The rear slope line of the load starts at the tailgate versus starting the slope further in the body thereby reducing potential capacity. A full load can be transported without risking spillage or uneven load distribution.
Increasing Tire Life
Increasing tire life is two fold. As mentioned earlier, overloading of the front axle and front tire lowers tire life. When a tire is overloaded, excessive heat can build up causing a degradation of the tire components. Overloaded tires are one of the leading causes of premature tire failure behind under inflation. In addition, an overloaded tire is more easily damaged externally as well as internally when running over spillage from another truck or previous run.
Reducing Haul Road Maintenance
The combination of a reduction in spillage, improved weight distribution, and prolonged tire life significantly reduces haul road maintenance and ultimately cost per ton. The support equipment and man hours along with all the associated expenses of fuel and maintenance on the support equipment can be reduced considerably instead of adding cost to the operation.
The ultimate goal of this wear resistant and low maintenance tailgate is to reduce your costs and increase your productivity. Investments made in these tailgates will pay for themselves many times over in the life of a hauling unit. Our rugged, reliable, and proven design has been in operation for decades. The nature of our automatic elevating design does not require the need for additional hydraulics. Maxter tailgates are available for most makes and models from the smallest articulated trucks up to some of the largest rigid frame models in the construction and mining industry. We can also custom design our tailgates to meet your requirements. For more information, please e-mail or give me a call.
SIDE DUMP TRAILERS

As a Hauler, Side Dump Trailers are often overlooked. In many applications they should be considered as the ideal ore and material mover rather than an option.
Low center of gravity, easily loaded by all loading tools, and their ability to approach the dumping site without time consuming maneuvering make them more productive.
After discharging, the body returns to the frame, automatically returning the side to its position.

COAL HAULERS

Maxter has been actively building coal haulers for more than 25 years. Since 1990, a concentrated effort has been made to improve and upgrade the coal hauler designs. The double hull was introduced in 1995 followed by a comprehensive overall design upgrade, which was introduced in 1999.

BOTTOM DUMP EARTHWAGONS

Maxter has been one of the main suppliers of Bottom Dump Earthwagons since 1973. We have produced trailers in capacities from 35 tons (31 tonnes) to 160 tons (146 tonnes).
Most major construction companies in North and South America have used these haulers extensively. They have been utilized to build some of the largest hydro-electric dams in the world. Maxter trailer trains have seen service in varied conditions, ranging from the hauling of materials to build gravel islands on the north coast of Alaska, to the construction of major airports around the United States.
Some major features of bottom dump earth wagons include:
Earth wagons dump while in motion thus spreading the load in a uniform manner and at the same time decrease haul cycle times.

End/Rear dump trailers are especially effective for longer hauls (typically one mile or longer).
Major Advantages:
FORGOTTEN TECHNOLOGY
A HORSE CAN PULL MORE THAN IT CAN CARRY ON IT'S BACK
For instance, an 85 to 100 ton truck, when converted into a Tractor, can haul a 160 ton payload. (Dependent on the Haul Profile)

S.T.C. TRAILERS (Scraper Tractor Conversion)
Idle Scapers don't earn money, working tractors do!

Owners of Tractor/Scraper units have an alternative to leaving them parked after the scraper project is finished. Maxter S.T.C. Trailers can be connected to a new or used scraper tractor. The trailer design allows for the use of the existing scraper running gear, providing a very inexpensive conversion.
The Maxter S.T.C. Trailers are available in three configurations.
Rear Dump, Bottom Dump and Side Dump. This allows you to select the discharge method which is appropriate for your application.
Maxter S.T.C Trailers allows you to easily interchange between a scraper and the articulated rear dump unit.
